Course overview and goals
All of the “Oral Expression in English” courses are devoted to improving students' skills in speaking. As a graduate-level elective course, Oral Expression in English 15 focuses on the improvement of oral communication skills – in other words, speaking with confidence and in such a way as to be understood, and active participation in conversations with a range of topics. Classes will begin with discussion and debate activities in pair and small groups, and culminate in students delivering a structured presentation on each topic.
Course description and aims
By the end of this course, students will be able to speak for several minutes in dialogues, or by themselves, to deliver a presentation on a range of topics, paying attention to the effective use of language and appropriate structure in their deliveries.

Class flow
This class is designed to introduce students to the key points of oral expression in English, which is the ability to effectively speak and listen in English. A variety of topics will be introduced, and initially discussed in pairs and small groups, and culminating in students giving a structured presentation on these topics. The number of students in this class will be limited to 20. If the number of enrollments exceeds the limit, there is a possibility that we may conduct a lottery during the first class.

Study advice (preparation and review)
To enhance effective learning, students are encouraged to spend approximately 100 minutes preparing for class and another 100 minutes reviewing class content afterwards (including assignments) for each class.
They should do so by referring to textbooks and other course material.
