Course overview and goals
While globalization has significantly improved efficiency in information flow, logistics, and mobility, it has also brought global challenges—such as climate change and economic inequality—to the forefront. Driven by diverse factors, the pace of change in socioeconomic activities and lifestyles continues to accelerate. International higher education has evolved as well: students can now gain global experience domestically and online, in addition to traditional study abroad. This "location-independent" international education has firmly established itself, enabling students to cultivate global awareness, knowledge, and practical skills through flexible pathways despite financial or time constraints.
Course Objectives:
Learn effective English communication methods through hands-on practice.
Conduct data-driven comparisons between Japan and the target countries (the United States, Sri Lanka, and Thailand for Spring 2027) across areas such as demographics, economy, education, careers, and gender.
Deepen understanding of diverse topics and strengthen communication skills through collaborative online group work with students from partner universities.
Overview:
Through the following three core activities, this course helps students enhance their cross-cultural communication skills, fostering new perspectives and integrated knowledge shaped by diverse academic fields, cultures, and traditions:
English communication workshops
Comparative research between Japan and the target countries
Online exchange with students from the target countries
