Course overview and goals
This course provides an overview of the educational goals and learning contents in the fields of algebra, geometry, analysis, and probability and statistics. It also deals with inquiry-based activities in which students explore open-ended problems related to everyday life through the use of mathematics.
In addition, the course examines methods for assessing inquiry-based activities, which are difficult to evaluate through conventional written tests.
Course description and aims
The goals of (1) -1) 3) 5) of the core curriculum of the teacher education course are related and treated as follows.
・Based on units centered on mathematical activities such as "task learning" and units in the field of probability and statistics such as "data analysis",
learn how to design and teach teaching materials that carry out exploratory activities to utilize mathematics to solve unanswered problems related to daily life.
・Learn the viewpoints and methods of evaluation of the learning outcomes of inquiry activities that are difficult to measure with a test.
・In connection with the above, students will also learn the guidance and evaluation of mathematical ways of viewing and thinking necessary for self-study of developmental content through inquiry activities.
