Course overview and goals

In "Korean 1 to 4", students practice mainly on the mechanism of letters (Hangul) and pronunciation, greetings, basic conversation. This course also deals witn Korean culture and history through audio-visual materials and others. Students deepen the cross-cultural understanding and learn the social conversation skills through the year.

Course description and aims

1. Reading and writing Hangul (Korean Alphabet).
2. Greetings and self-introductions.
3. Verbs and adjectives, irregular verbs queries.
4. Past tense.
5. Developing basic writing and speaking skills.
6. Developing group and pair discussion skills.

Study advice (preparation and review)

To enhance effective learning, students are encouraged to spend approximately 100 minutes preparing for class and another 100 minutes reviewing class content afterwards (including assignments) for each class.
They should do so by referring to textbooks and other course material.

Evaluation methods and criteria

Results are evaluated based on the results (70%) of the final exam (and midterm exam) based on attitudes in the class, submission of tasks (30%).
