Syllabus
Course overview and goals
This course consists of two rounds with practical experience of science through lectures or seminars in four smaller groups divided according to the Departments of Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry, Earth and Planetary Sciences in the School of Science. It emphasizes the importance of self thinking, communication and discussion between students and instructors, or by students themselves. Also it provides an opportunity for students to think what is learning, and furthermore to consider their own future direction.
Course description and aims
The students are expected to
1) experience practical researches being conducted in the Departments in the School of Science, and
2) obtain information useful to choose a proper department for further study from sophomore.

Class flow
The course consists of two rounds providing practical experience to touch the current research of science in the four groups. The arrangement for dividing students into groups is discussed around the end of the 1st quarter. Between the 1st and 2nd rounds there is Networking Session.

To enhance effective learning, students are encouraged to spend approximately 100 minutes preparing for class and another 100 minutes reviewing class content afterwards (including assignments) for each class.
