Course overview and goals

This Japanese language course is designed for the students who awarded scholarship by the Ministry. The regular students may apply for this course only if the seats are available.

Course description and aims

By the end of this course, students will be able to:
1) Handle the basic daily conversation and discuss the social issues,
2) Read and write basic Kanji (500).

Class flow

The 4-skill exercises are carried out based on topics. The learner-centered tasks and presentations are focused in the class.
At the end of the course, students are required to give a final presentation.

Course schedule/Objectives

Course schedule Objectives
Class 1 There are 3-hour intensive classes held every day from Monday to Friday in the morning. This course covers the regular Basic 4 in 7 weeks. (The daily class schedule, including test dates will be provided for the intensive students.) The homework and previous study requires 90 minutes a day at least.

Study advice (preparation and review)

To enhance effective learning, students are encouraged to spend approximately 100 minutes preparing for class and another 100 minutes reviewing class content afterwards (including assignments) for each class.
They should do so by referring to textbooks and other course material.

Those who have completed Basic Japanese 3 and learned Kanji 300.
