Course overview and goals

In discussions of social issues and their solutions, evidence is often required to support arguments. Such evidence may be derived from social surveys or official statistical data. However, without the ability to assess whether the evidence is appropriate, it is difficult to fully understand these discussions. Therefore, this course aims to develop the ability to interpret surveys and statistics by learning the fundamentals of statistics in the social sciences. Through this, students will cultivate the skills necessary to understand discussions on social issues and their solutions and to critically evaluate them.
