Syllabus

Course overview and goals

This course will help students practice how to appropriately use the expressions they have learned depending on the occasion and the person they are talking to. The course will further introduce more formal words and euphemistic expressions, and will also help students acquire practical Japanese skills through task-oriented exercises and presentations.

By the end of this course, students will be able to:
- handle discussion;
- present opinions on social and international issues.

Class flow

The four-skill exercises will be conducted based on topics. Students are required to positively participate in small-group tasks and presentations.

Study advice (preparation and review)

To enhance effective learning, students are encouraged to spend approximately 100 minutes preparing for class and another 100 minutes reviewing class content afterwards (including assignments) for each class.
They should do so by referring to textbooks and other course material.
