Course overview and goals
This course is designed and delivered to cultivate the following abilities, attributes, and perspectives which are appropriate and required for those students who study at one of the top leading comprehensive universities of science and technology.
This course is designed, developed, and offered jointly by the Research Group for the Future of the Sports and Health Science, see http://www.fhs.bio.titech.ac.jp/english/about.html, and the Institute for Liberal Arts.
Course description and aims
By the completion of this course, the students will have
1) the ability to recognize and explain the nature how science and engineering knowledge has contributed to the development of sports and health sciences, taking into account ethical aspects as well
2) the ability to gain the perspective of knowledge necessary for future science and engineering research from the perspective of human body and science.

Class flow
This class will be conducted face-to-face. The classroom is Room 716, 7th floor, West Bldg. 9. This is a face-to-face class, not a ZOOM class, so please make sure to come to the university. Group work will be conducted in each session of this class. As in other cross-disciplinary courses, this course emphasizes active learning in which students actively learn by themselves. Students are required to attend each lecture and submit a summary report. If you are unable to attend a lecture due to special circumstances, please notify the course director. Attendance at lectures will be reflected in the course grade. In addition, since computers and smart phones will be used in class, please be sure to carry them with you.

Study advice (preparation and review)
To enhance effective learning, students are encouraged to spend approximately 100 minutes preparing for class and another 100 minutes reviewing class content afterwards (including assignments) for each class.
