Syllabus
Course overview and goals
Students who join study abroad in Thailand (ENT.G305 Multicultural Groupwork study abroad 2) should register this course.
Through online lecture and joint groupwork with students from Chulalongkorn University,
1) Deepen the knowledge about social issues predetermined for the year, and
2) Make ideas for solving social issues.
From December to February, students will join the course on site (Oookayama campus Main building M110), and connect with Chula students through remote system.
In January, Chula students will come to Japan. Both students will join site visits, groupwork, and final presentation.
Course description and aims
1) To understand trend and priorities of social issues in Japan and Thailand.
2) To understand the processes of engineering design such as needs assessment, concept idea making, prototype making, and try and error.
3) To develop idea and its implementation plan for applying the idea in each country with understanding their social issues
4) To localize and customize the idea for adapting different cultures
5) To develop global awareness with understanding and respecting cultural differences
6) To join multi-cultural groupwork actively
7) To acquire critical thinking and analytical ability

Class flow
1) Collect data and information in each country related with the topic which each group chose, and find specific points and differences/commonalities of each country
2) Conduct user test and get feedback for applying the idea in each country appropriately
3) With considering each country’s situation, discuss about how to realize and to implement the idea
4) Show a skit for realizing the idea and a presentation the idea with the implementing plan in final presentation session.

Study advice (preparation and review)
To enhance effective learning, students are encouraged to spend approximately 100 minutes preparing for class and another 100 minutes reviewing class content afterwards (including assignments) for each class.
