授業の目的（ねらい）、概要

すべての「英語スピーキング演習」の科目は、その名のとおり、学生の話す力を伸ばすことを目標としている。発表以外の場においては、効果的に話すためには効果的に聞くことも必要となることから、これらの科目の授業や宿題においては、互いに話し合う練習やきちんと聞く練習を行う。「英語スピーキング演習GI」は夏休み中に集中講義として行われる。
　　この授業は海外留学するのに必要な英語口頭表現力、特にディスカッションやプレゼンテーションの力を学生に身につけさせることを目標とする。

到達目標

この授業を履修することにより、学生は自分の選んだトピックについて討論したり発表をしたりすることができるようになり、留学の準備をすることができる。

授業の進め方

This five-day intensive course is aimed at students interested in having the opportunity to speak English and improve their critical thinking and oral expression skills while discussing a variety of topics which are pertinent to their daily lives. The main topics likely to be discussed will include travel, health, climate/environment and technology and society. Classes will be discussion based, and will lead to a pair work project in which students are responsible for creating a PSA (public service announcement) on a topic of their choice. Active participation by all students is expected.

準備学修(事前学修・復習)等についての指示

This five-day intensive course is designed for students looking for a forum that will allow them to speak English on a wide array of topics. It will be student-centered and (very) active participation will be expected. The general daily format is discussion/debate with presentations at the end of the day. Aside from general fluency, other areas that will be addressed include critical thinking skills, presentation skills, listening skills, and vocabulary building.
