Course overview and goals
In this lecture, the students appreciate major works of World Literature. The lecture will begin with an explanation of the concept of "world literature", followed by an omnibus class of literary works from different regions such as Germany, France, Russia, China, Ancient Greece.
By being exposed to major works of World Literature, students will learn how to read literary works themselves, understand the ways of thinking and the mentality of people who are geographically and historically far apart, and acquire methods of cross-cultural understanding.
