Course overview and goals

This lecture provides an overview of user characteristics that focuses on individuals (physiology, personality, etc.), behaviors in society, and behaviors against immature technologies. This also aims to deepen the understanding of the user's behaviors and social scientific data regarding them.

Course description and aims

The aims of this lecture are:
1. to grasp the characteristics of ICT use,
2. to grasp the behavior and cognition against handling for artifacts and information,
3. to grasp the overview of metrics for user research.

Class 4 User characteristics in society 1 Understanding the user characteristics from the point of behavior in society.
Class 5 User characteristics in society 2 Understanding the user characteristics from the point of behavior in society.
Class 6 User characteristics in society 3 Understanding the user characteristics from the point of behavior in society, on the basis of cases.
Class 7 user experience and human-centered design Understanding the concept of user experience and human-centered design as the methodology with the user-research-based solution.

Study advice (preparation and review)

To enhance effective learning, students are encouraged to spend approximately 100 minutes preparing for class and another 100 minutes reviewing class content afterwards (including assignments) for each class.
They should do so by referring to textbooks and other course material.
