Course overview and goals

In this course, students can learn the basics of design thinking in a PBL(Project Based Learning) style. Students from different backgrounds form teams. Each team selects a small project to work on design activities, and make a presentation on the outcome.

The goals of the course are to learn the basics of design thinking and to exercise implementing them.

[Important] In order to maintain a good balance as a team, students who wish to take courses are collected and selected from among them before registration, and only the selected students are allowed to register for this course as additional courses. Class flow

As collaboration is the main activity, this course is an intensive course of one week. Short term overseas students will join this class. (Depending on the situation of short-term international students, the course may not be offered.)

Class 1 5 day intensive course Day 1 (June 23, 10:45-12:25, 13:30-17:05) Ice-breaking, team formation, simple collaboration, lecture on design thinking Day 2 (June 24, 10:45-12:25, 13:30-17:05) Introduction to Japanese society, culture and technology, explanation of problems to tackle in this class, concept designing by team Day 3 (June 25, 10:45-12:25, 13:30-17:05) Selection of a design concept, 2D prototyping, improvement of the design concept Day 4 (June 26, 10:45-12:25, 13:30-17:05) 3D prototyping or preparation of demonstration Day 5 (June 27, 10:45-12:25, 13:30-17:05) Finishing operation, preparation of presentation, presentation Each team designs the following target. Products, systems and services purchased only by Japanese people
