Course overview and goals

[Summary of Lecture] Unit operations of reaction and separation in chemical process is important for production design. This lecture will be focus on the reaction with separation and separation with reaction and how to design and control these operations.
[Aim of Lecture] This lecture aims for students to understand how to design the reaction-separation medium and how to optimize these operation using knowledge of physical chemistry, transport phenomena and reaction engineering.

Target of this lecture is to understand the reaction-separation operation and its application.

To explain principle and design of gas absorption with chemical reaction

Separation with reaction 1 : Application of gas absorption process

To explain actual application of gas absorption process with chemical reaction

Separation with reaction 2 : Principle and design of membrane separation

To explain principle and design of membrane separation with chemical reaction

Class 4

Separation with reaction 2 : Application of membrane separation

To explain actual application of membrane separation process with chemical reaction

Class 5

Recycle system in reaction/separation process

to explain the process design with recycle system composing of the reaction and separation process

Class 6

Reaction/separation process using membrane reactor

to explain reaction separation process using membrane reactor

Class 7

Reaction/separation process using reactive distillation system

to explain reaction separation process using reactive distillation system

Class 8

Exercise problems

Use the exercise problems to better understand the topics covered, and evaluate one's own progress.

To enhance effective learning, students are encouraged to spend approximately 100 minutes preparing for class and another 100 minutes reviewing class content afterwards (including assignments) for each class.
They should do so by referring to textbooks and other course material.
