Course overview and goals

[Summary of Lecture] This lecture will focus on estimation method of transport properties and fundamentals and theory of evaluation for powder properties. Some exercises concerning theoretical calculation of transport properties and powder properties will be also conduct in this lecture.
[Aim of Lecture] This lecture aims for students to understand estimation method of transport properties and fundamentals and theory of evaluation for powder properties.

Class flow

The detailed contents of the classes will be shown using blackboards or PowerPoint slides on a projector.
At the end of class, students are given exercise problems related to the lecture given that day to solve.

Class 1 Kinetic theory of gases Derivation of the mean velocity of molecules and the mean free path by the kinetic theory of gases
Class 2 Evaluation of binary diffusivities in gas and liquid phases Understanding of the estimation method for binary diffusivities in gas and liquid phases
Class 3 Viscosities of pure substance and multicomponent system Understanding of the estimation method of the viscosity in gas and liquid phases
Class 4 Thermal conductivities of pure substance and multicomponent system Understanding of the estimation method of the thermal conductivities in gas, liquid and solid phases
Class 5 Powders properties 1, such as particle diameter, particle shape and particle density Understanding of the definition of powders properties
Class 6 Powder properties 2, measurements of particle size Understanding of the measurement principle of particle size
Class 7 Powder properties 3,specific surface area Understanding of the principle of measurement of specific surface area and pore size distribution

Study advice (preparation and review)

To enhance effective learning, students are encouraged to spend approximately 100 minutes preparing for class and another 100 minutes reviewing class content afterwards (including assignments) for each class.
They should do so by referring to textbooks and other course material.

Score evaluation will be conducted by confirming the level of understanding estimation method of transport property and powder property and class participation
