Syllabus

Course overview and goals

This course focuses on the basics of business administration (management strategy, marketing, accounting), and corporate economics. First, the instructor explains basic knowledge of business management using a textbook. The next part is “accounting literacy,” which includes lectures on CVP analysis and group work. In the final part, the third instructor explains the elements of business development, including the business plan and the application of the business canvas. It is followed by a discussion of the concept of platform-driven business and concludes with a case study.

Students will develop the critical skills that individual should have in order to work effectively in business organizations and to lead teams and organizations successfully. Also, students will have better understanding of the connection between the courses in the Department of Industrial Engineering and Economics and the reality of corporate management. research.

Class flow

This class consists of three parts. Inoue teaches the first part with general topics of business management, Nagata teaches the second part: accounting literacy, and Eko teaches the last part which focuses on business development, especially digital platform and a case study about Uber Technology.

Study advice (preparation and review)

To enhance effective learning, students are encouraged to spend approximately 100 minutes preparing for class and another 100 minutes reviewing class content afterwards (including assignments) for each class.
They should do so by referring to textbooks and other course material.

Three instructors complete evaluations for their respective sections, calculating the total points weighted for class time to reach the evaluation.
