Syllabus

Course overview and goals

This course is intended to provide undergraduate students majoring in information and communications engineering with research experience of the field in multiple laboratories. The contents of the research activities will vary with each laboratory. Students will learn how to summarize and how to present their research activities.

Course description and aims

By the end of this course students will be able to:
1. Gain knowledge of trends in information and communications engineering.
2. Debate the research results effectively.
3. Draw conclusions from the research results through logical reasoning.
4. Present the research results in a clear and logical fashion.

Class flow

Students are each assigned laboratories for their research activities in Ookayama and Suzukakedai campuses. Students will be given the chance to discuss what research activities they wish to engage in with the supervising faculty.

Course schedule/Objectives

Course schedule Objectives
Class 1 A quarter will be divided into the first half and the second half. For example a student is assigned a laboratory in Ookayama in the first half and a laboratory in Suzukakedai in the second half. A student and the supervising faculty will discuss contents, an implementation method, a goal, etc. of research activities. At the ends of the first and the second halves students will present their research activities. Debate basic points about the research undertaken in a laboratory.

Evaluation methods and criteria

Success or fail will be decided by comprehensively considering the achievement and presentation of research activities.

Prerequisites

None required. In general students who wish to graduate for 3 years or 3.5 years should take this course in the 1st quarter and the other students should take this course in the 3rd quarter.
