Course overview and goals

The formation and evolution of organic matter in space and their relationship to the origin of life will be introduced.
This course consists of seven classes. The course schedule will be announced at http://www.geo.titech.ac.jp/en/education.php

Course description and aims

- Understand the formation and evolution of organic matter in space
- Understand the distribution of prebiotic organic compounds and their supply to the primitive Earth
- Based on the above, students should be able to understand the latest research related to this topic

Class flow

Lectures will be given in the 1st~5th sessions, and students will introduce papers in the 6th~7th sessions.

Class 5 Origin of life Understand an overview of relationship between extraterrestrial organic matter and the origin of life
Class 6 Paper presentations by students (1) Students will read and present a paper related to this topic
Class 7 Paper presentations by students (2) Students will read and present a paper related to this topic

Study advice (preparation and review)

To enhance effective learning, students are encouraged to spend approximately 100 minutes preparing for class and another 100 minutes reviewing class content afterwards (including assignments) for each class.
They should do so by referring to textbooks and other course material.
