Syllabus

Course overview and goals

Through studying at research institutes and universities in Japan, students will apply their knowledge of materials and information, engage in research on chemical substance selection and material design, and deepen their understanding of specialized knowledge. Additionally, they will develop communication skills, practical abilities, and problem-solving skills.

Course description and aims

Students will enhance their ability to apply knowledge of materials and information to chemical substance selection and material design. Furthermore, through discussions with researchers at domestic universities and other institutions, they will improve their communication skills, practical abilities, and problem-solving skills.

Class flow

Students will conduct studies and research at Japanese universities or research institutes and make a presentation with reports based on their findings.

Course schedule Objectives
Class 1 1) Determine the domestic university or research institute where academic studies and research will be conducted. 2) Conduct academic studies and research related to materials and information at the selected institution for at least one month. 3) Compile the research findings into a report and make a presentation. Students write a report and make a presentation that summarize their study and research achievements at Japanese university or research institute.

Evaluation will be based on reports and presentations detailing the study and research conducted at Japanese university or research institute in relation to materials and information.

Prerequisites

Students must be enrolled in the Graduate Major in Materials and Information Sciences.
Students who wish to conduct academic studies and research related to materials and information at domestic universities or research institutes must submit an activity plan at least two months before departure. Based on the activity plan, the Graduate Major will review the enrollment eligibility and provide a response approximately one month before departure.
