Course overview and goals
The B2D scheme enables students to develop an individualized course of study tailored to meet their academic goals.
Students will:
Initiate their research project in the fall semester of the second year of their bachelor’s program, at an earlier stage than usual at Tokyo Tech
Compose and implement a customized study plan connecting undergraduate and graduate programs in a seamless manner
Students are expected to:
Be proactive in pursuing their own goals
Become doctoral graduates with a multidisciplinary perspective
Play unique roles in society, transcending existing frameworks
Students must pass the B2D special selection to be admitted to study in this scheme.
The B2D academic supervisor and student will discuss and come up with an agreed-upon research theme. The student will then start preliminary research related to the theme:
1. Expanding knowledge of the specialized field of study, while conducting a search of the literature
2. Developing focal point of research
3. Training in research methods, and enhancing oral and written communication skills necessary to disseminate research findings
Course description and aims
B2D Pre-research Training will enable the student to:
1. Acquire knowledge sufficient for conducting full-fledged research in their specialized field
2. Evaluate the impact that the research could have on society, further enhancing its significance
3. Acquire fundamental skills and competencies necessary to complete a full-fledged research project
Keywords
Research activities, literature search, specialized knowledge, research theme, research method
Competencies
- Specialist skills
- Intercultural skills
