Course overview and goals

This course aims to get communication skills, practical skills and solving skills through studying abroad at research institutes and universities abroad, by engaging in research on the selection of chemical substances and material design using knowledge of materials and information.

Course description and aims

The purpose of this course will be to improve the ability to use knowledge of materials and information in chemical selection and material design. Furthermore, through discussions with researchers from overseas universities etc., students will improve communication skills, practical skills and resolution skills.

Class flow

Students will conduct study and research at universities or research institutes overseas, and give a report by presentation.

Class 1 1) Decide foreign university or institute you want to study. 2) Conduct the study and research regarding to materials and informatics for more than one month in 1). 3) Give a presentation on the results of 2). Submit reports and presentations on the results of studies and research at universities or research institutes overseas.

Study advice (preparation and review)

To enhance effective learning, students are encouraged to spend approximately 50 minutes preparing for class and another 50 minutes reviewing class content afterwards (including assignments) for each class.
They should do so by referring to textbooks and other course material.

Evaluation methods and criteria

Evaluation is based on reports and presentations on learning and research on materials and informatics at universities and research institutes overseas.

Prerequisites

Submit an activity plan for study and research related to materials and information at a university or research institute overseas by the end of two months before your trip. We will discuss the course you will take based on the activity plan and will respond approximately one month before your trip.
