Course overview and goals

In this course, students will practice the abilities they learned in "Fundamental Group Work for Leadership” (TAL.W501), “Fundamental Group Work for Leadership I” (TAL.W502), and “Fundamental Group Work for Leadership II” (TAL.W503) by pursuing long-term group projects such as idea generation and application development. The projects will be executed by following a methodology (e.g., Lean Launchpad) introduced in the lectures.
In addition, students will describe their career plans and get feedback from their peers and instructors to realize how they can exploit their abilities in their future careers.

This course is for students who have taken "Master’s Practical Group Work for Leadership I" (TAL.W504) to further improve their skills and capabilities. This course can be taken only by students who have completed any of the above courses.

Course description and aims

Based on the insights gained from the reflection of "Master's Practical Group Work for Leadership I" (TAL.W504), each student will set his/her own goals and further improve the following skills through practice in a different group and theme from “I”.

(1) Propose practical ideas for solving social issues by utilizing the skills and knowledge of the major field.
(2) Explicate the ideas properly, and build consensus in the group by respecting the opinion of others.
(3) Improve the proposing idea appropriately based on feedback from the society.
(4) Accomplish the group work as the project.

Class flow

The process of this course consists of students’ group work for problem setting, presentation of the concept of solutions, and improvement of the ideas by the feedback from the society. The theme of the workshop/discussion depends on the students’ intentions and the social situation at the time.

Evaluation methods and criteria

Students will be assessed on the achievement of the learning outcomes such as proposing the practical ideas for solving the social issues, consensus building in the group, dealing with the feedback from the society, and so on, as well as on the rationality of discussion and contribution to collaboration work.

Prerequisites

・Registered students of ToTAL should have successfully completed either one of the Fundamental Group Work for Leadership (TAL.W501) or Fundamental Group Work for Leadership I (TAL.W502) before taking this course. There are no restrictions for all students besides the above.

・Students must have successfully completed either one of the Master’s Practical Group Work for Leadership I (TAL.W504) or Practical Group Work for Leadership (TAL.W601) or Doctoral Practical Group Work for Leadership I (TAL.W602).
