Course overview and goals

Subtitle: Thinking about entrepreneurship with DNX Ventures; Understanding the current state of entrepreneurship as an option from the perspective of social needs and the motivations of those involved, and learning its essence in a practical way
Entrepreneurship education does not simply aim to develop entrepreneurs who aim to establish startup companies, but also aims to develop human resources who can bring new value to society. Many organizations in society, including large companies and research organizations, are in high demand for people who have and can demonstrate "entrepreneurship."
Starting a business is one way of providing new value to society, and a typical outcome of demonstrating entrepreneurship. In this course, we hope to have a discussion with students, including realistic information from a world-class venture capitalist who discovers, invests in, and incubate many startups every day, and from startup company founders, about how companies are established and run in a capitalist society, and what mechanisms exist for the values, motivations, and intentions of investors and founders. Understanding the option of starting a business will broaden your options as a future business person and as an academic researcher.

This course will have lecturers Dr. Kurabayashi (Managing Partner and Japan Representative) and Mr. Shiraishi (Principal) of DNX Ventures, which has bases in both the US and Japan, and will also have startup founders from Japan who are in the growth stage join in to deliver lectures that delve into the essence of their "entrepreneurship". As much as possible, there will be time for Q&A with the lecturers, including the entrepreneurs' talks, and we hope to make the course as interactive as possible rather than one-way, and explore to engage in discussion about “entrepreneurship" with the participating students.
We look forward to your active participation.
