授業の目的（ねらい）、概要
すべての「英語スピーキング演習」の科目は学生の話す力を伸ばすことを目標としている。発表以外の場においては、効果的に話すためには効果的に聞くことも必要となることから、これらの科目の授業や宿題においては、互いに話し合う練習やきちんと聞く練習を行う。
大学院の選択科目である「英語スピーキング演習第十六」では、より幅広い話題にディスカッションを広げつつ、「英語スピーキング演習第一五」同様、口頭表現技術の向上に焦点をあてる。すべての学生は、授業中に発表できるように、週ごとに課されるトピックについての短い対話を用意してくることや、より長い個人による発表をすることが求められる。
到達目標
この授業科目を履修することにより、学生は、発音に関する問題に注意を払いながら、さまざまな話題について一人で、あるいは対話の中で、数分間話せるようになる。

授業の進め方
This class is designed to introduce students to the key points of oral expression in English, which is the ability to effectively speak and listen in English. A variety of topics will be introduced, and initially discussed in pairs and small groups, and culminating in students giving a structured presentation on these topics. The number of students in this class will be limited to 20. If the number of enrollments exceeds the limit, there is a possibility that we may conduct a lottery during the first class.

学修効果を上げるため，教科書や配布資料等の該当箇所を参照し，「毎授業」授業内容に関する予習と復習（課題含む）をそれぞれ概ね100分を目安に行うこと。
