Course overview and goals
To develop leaders who can lead innovation by utilizing data science and AI, the objective of this course is for students to acquire the fundamentals of business management by utilizing digital and AI technologies, and to be able to create business plans.

Course description and aims
Students creates their own business proposals not only in lectures but also through group work in PBL, focusing on practical and managerial perspectives on business with digital and AI fields in mind, in particular, the structure and ecosystem of venture businesses and digital transformation (DX) in companies.

・Prof. Tagui Ichikawa has over 30 years of experience in innovation, digital, and AI policy at the Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry (METI) and related organizations.
・Prof. Kenji Suzuki specializes in AI ethics, information law, intellectual property law, and artificial intelligence at Sony Group Inc. He is also a visiting professor at Nagoya University and Center for Juris-informatics.

・The first class will serve as an orientation; attendance is mandatory for all students taking the course.
・Prospective students must submit the following information via the form below—ideally before the first class—writing a few lines in Japanese for each point: ① self-introduction, ② motivation for taking the course, and ③ business fields of interest.

・As the course involves group work, enrollment is limited to approximately 20 students (subject to change). If the number of applicants exceeds this limit, a selection process based on the form submissions may be conducted.
・The course focuses on lectures (approx. 1 hour per session) covering the big picture of data science and AI business, as well as topics such as digital innovation, venture business, and DX (Digital Transformation).
・Group work (Project-Based Learning/PBL) will be conducted during each session (approx. 30 minutes).
・Midterm and final sessions will feature presentations and discussions of group business plan proposals.
・Classes will be held exclusively in person (at the Ookayama Campus).
・This course will be conducted entirely in Japanese.

Evaluation methods and criteria
・The grade will be based on Pass or Fail.
・The evaluation is based on active participation in class, contribution to group work, work in each session, midterm presentation, and final presentation.
