Course overview and goals

Further to the presentation to be made by the professionals who are creating leading edge of values (innovations) in various fields including enterprises, start ups, NPO/NGO, journalism, government and academic, students are going to be encouraged to derive their necessary information and/or answers from the professionals. Students are being expected to find (1) multidimensional perspective and (2) excitement for creating value to the society from the communication with such professionals. Basically, Guest Speakers are being changed in every term.

Course description and aims

Students are being expected to appreciate the difference about concepts of value between you and others, and to understand the society exist by various kind of concepts of value, not only perspective and way of thinking around you. Purposes of the sessions are not only hearing the experiences made by the professionals, but also understanding the purpose of those professionals’ activities and training how the students make guest speakers say what the students want to hear.

Class flow

1. An orientation will be held in conjunction with other intensive courses, during which the schedule and guest speakers will be explained. For details, please see below.

2. All students interested in enrolling in this course must attend ＃1; orientation. Person(s) in charge for each guest speaker session will be determined at the orientation.
3. Each guest speaker will provide topics such as the latest work topics, the latest developments, current work issues, and activity goals and overviews. Based on these topics, the guest and students will engage in discussion.
I4. n addition, a few days before each guest speaker's session, person(s) in charge for each guest speaker session will share the result of their research on the subject proposed in advace by tutors with other students. Each session is typically scheduled to last two hours.

Evaluation methods and criteria

1. Because participation and communication between the instructor and students are important, attending all sessions ishould be stringly recommended.
2. Grades (pass/fail decision) will be determined based on a comprehensive assessment of attendance at each session, contribution to group work and discussions, and completion of the reflection sheet.

1. Depend on the guest speakers’ convenience, the venue (either O-okayama or Suzukaked-dai) would be decided. If, however, students can access by remote system from O-okayama or Suzukake-dai.
