授業の目的（ねらい）、概要

この授業はTOEFLをまったく知らないあるいは受験したことがない学生向けのTOEFL入門の授業である。英語の四技能のうち、特に聴解力と発話力の基礎力を磨きながら、TOEFLのテスト形式になれることを目指す。また短期留学に必要な基礎的な語彙を学ぶ。

到達目標

・TOEFLの出題形式や内容に親しむこと。
・クラス内でのペアワークやグループワークを通して聴解力と発話力を向上させること。
・短いスピーチや会話を聴き、要点を理解したうえでその要点を短文で要約し英語を使って表現することができる。

授業の進め方

Each week we will work closely with the explanatory texts, recorded materials and question sets provided by the instructor. Students will work in pairs (or a group of three if need be) either in breakout rooms or in person, reciprocally helping to develop greater listening accuracy and speaking fluency.

第3回	short Quiz 1 Listening components of practice tests, session 1	Developing listening skills for conversation and lecture extract questions. Official Guide pp139-148 practice exercises.
第4回	Listening components of practice tests, session 2. Integrated reading-listening-speaking Q2, session 1.	Official Guide pp149-163 further listening practice exercises. Developing skills for reading then listening to and summarizing conversations about announcements of university campus or professorial policies. Official Guide explanatory text and exercises pp170-75.
第5回	Short Quiz 2 Integrated reading-listening-speaking Q2 session 2, and Q3 session 1	Further practice of skills for reading then listening to and summarizing conversations about announcements of university campus or professorial policies. Developing skills for reading about, listening to a lecture extract then summarizing aspects of an academic topic. Official Guide explanatory text pp175-179.
第6回	Integrated reading-listening-speaking Q3, session 2	Further development of skills for reading about, listening to a lecture extract then summarizing aspects of an academic topic. Official Guide p260, pp315-317 and other practice materials.
第7回	Review and final test	All of the listening and speaking skills developed through the above materials and exercises.

準備学修(事前学修・復習)等についての指示

学修効果を上げるため，教科書や配布資料等の該当箇所を参照し，「毎授業」授業内容に関する予習と復習（課題含む）をそれぞれ概ね100分を目安に行うこと。
