授業の目的（ねらい）、概要
この授業は長期留学を目指す学生のための授業である。授業では英語の四技能の向上のための訓練を行う。大学院レベルで長期留学に必要な英語力（大学学部生の一般教養科目レベルのコンテンツを英語できいて講義ノートを取り、ゼミで発表したり意見を述べたりすることができる）と専門的な内容を説明するのに支障のない程度の語彙力と英語技能の習得を目指す。
到達目標
TOEFLの設問を理解し、その概要を追うことができる。またそれの内容について、要点だけではなく概要を口頭で明晰に説明することができる。さらに課されたリーディング課題についてコメントしたり、プレゼンをすることができる。教室内の学生からの質問に明晰に答えられる。

Attendance is taken at each class. The course is built around TOEFL-modelled listening and speaking activities (including Integrated Skills activities that also involve reading) in the textbook and its related online support sites.

準備学修(事前学修・復習)等についての指示
学修効果を上げるため，教科書や配布資料等の該当箇所を参照し，「毎授業」授業内容に関する予習と復習（課題含む）をそれぞれ概ね100分を目安に行うこと。
