Course overview and goals

We describe the company as a system of value creation ,consisting of corporate governance and business process management , Interaction with customers and markets ,and management of human resources and organization . Also, we will understand management and information strategy , and process of organization change .

Course description and aims

By the end of this course, students will be able to:
1)recognize the companies and management as a system
2)learn a perspective for understanding companies and management.
3)understand the expectations of companies for engineers and experts

As a senior consultant at Nomura Research Institute, I have been conducting research work including management strategy, IT strategy, and organizational development in companies and government agencies. From an interdisciplinary perspective based on these practical experiences, we aim to understand the company as a system and acquire practical knowledge.

Class 1 Company and management as a system of value creation Be able to explain what added value is, what an organization is, and what corporate governance is.
Class 2 Management system ① Mechanism of corporate governance and business process management Be able to explain what types of operations and information systems are necessary for management and business.
Class 3 Management system ② Interaction with the market and customer Be able to explain what products and services should companies provide to their customers.
Class 4 Data as asset and information systems Be able to explain what information is as a business asset, how it can be used with digital technology, and what value it brings to the company.
Class 5 Management strategy for changing business environment Be able to explain what types of environmental changes companies need to respond to and how to adapt management resources.
Class 6 Process of value creation① Identify the essence of the issue Be able to understand the situation surrounding a company's business and consider the nature of issues that require decision-making.
Class 7 Process of value creation② Making business solutions and organizational development Be able to consider and explain business model transformation and organizational development.

Study advice (preparation and review)

To enhance effective learning, students are encouraged to spend approximately 30 minutes preparing for class and another 30 minutes reviewing class content afterwards for each class.
