Course overview and goals

This course introduces on health-related theories, remarks and observations, in order to think and judge what is good for health and to understand underlying mechanisms.

Course description and aims

At the end of this course, students will be able to:
1) Have an understanding of basic sciences related to health-related and biological sciences.
2) Design a preferable lifestyle based on scientific evidence.
3) Using health-related knowledge, tackle practical health issues by applying knowledge acquired through this course.

Class 2 Weight homeostasis and regulation Learn about the homeostasis of the human body (especially body weight) and its regulation
Class 3 Mechanisms of appetite regulation Learn about the mechanisms of appetite regulation in the body
Class 4 Eating behavior and food preferences physiological, sociological, and psychological influences on eating behavior and food preferences
Class 5 Diet for health promotion Learn about the health-promoting diets recommended in Japan and around the world
Class 6 Exercise, sports and diet Learn about recommended dietary intake during exercise and sport
Class 7 Summary of lectures Review your own health and summarize the lecture
