Syllabus
Course overview and goals
After actual study abroad in Thailand, (ENT.G303 Multicultural Groupwork study abroad), through lectures and multicultural group work remotely, students will
1) Deepen the knowledge about social issues predetermined for the year, and
2) Make ideas for solving social issues.
In October and November, students will take the course on site, and connect with Chula students through remote system.
In December, Chula students will come to Japan. Both students will join site visits, groupwork, and final presentation.
Only students who took "ENT.G303 Multicultural Groupwork study abroad" can register this course.
Course description and aims
1) To understand trend and priorities of social issues in Japan and Thailand.
2) To understand the processes of engineering design such as needs assessment, concept idea making, prototype making, and try and error.
3) To develop idea and its implementation plan for applying the idea in each country with understanding their social issues
4) To localize and customize the idea for adapting different cultures
5) To develop global awareness with understanding and respecting cultural differences
6) To join multi-cultural groupwork actively
7) To acquire critical thinking and analytical ability

Class flow
1) Collect data and information in each country related with the topic which each group chose, and find specific points and differences/commonalities of each country
2) Conduct user test and get feedback for applying the idea in each country appropriately
3) With considering each country’s situation, discuss about how to realize and to implement the idea
4) Show a skit for realizing the idea and a presentation the idea with the implementing plan in final presentation session.

To enhance effective learning, students are encouraged to spend approximately 100 minutes preparing for class and another 100 minutes reviewing class content afterwards (including assignments) for each class.
