Course overview and goals
In this course, students need to explore how to use mathematics for solving problems related to daily life and having no correct answer.
Moreover, students need to consider how to evaluate exploration activities that are difficult to assess by traditional test method.
Course description and aims
The goals of (1) -1) 3) 5) of the core curriculum of the teacher education course are related and treated as follows.
・Based on units centered on mathematical activities such as "task learning" and units in the field of probability and statistics such as "data analysis",
learn how to design and teach teaching materials that carry out exploratory activities to utilize mathematics to solve unanswered problems related to daily life.
・Learn the viewpoints and methods of evaluation of the learning outcomes of inquiry activities that are difficult to measure with a test.
・In connection with the above, students will also learn the guidance and evaluation of mathematical ways of viewing and thinking necessary for self-study of developmental content through inquiry activities.
Keywords

Class flow
This course is held as face-to-face intensive lectures in September. 2+1/3 hours lessons are held at three days.
Because this course is held in the summer vacation, let's check the schedule published on the web-page of the teacher promotion course.
Course schedule/Objectives
Course schedule | Objectives | |
---|---|---|
Class 1 | Exploration activities in Mathematics | Self-practicing PBL in Mathematics and summarizing its experiences in a report. |
Class 2 | Educational assessment of mathematical exploration activities | Based on the discussion in the lesson, setting the viewpoint for assessing reports of PBL in Mathematics and analyzing the own reports. |
Class 3 | Instructional methods for "Probability and statistics" and term-end examination | Performing exercises to utilize learning outcomes of "probability and statistics" in daily life. |
