Syllabus

Course overview and goals

 The course is designed for students who have no knowledge of Russian. It introduces basic Russian language and Russian culture.
 The course focuses on learning vocabulary and basic grammar. Students will also acquire basic skills for oral communication and writing.

In the end of this course students will be able to :
1) read and pronounce Russian Alphabet 2) understand some grammar topics 3) communicate in basic phrases.

Class flow

At the beginning of the class, the instructor explain words, phrases and grammar. Using the text book, students practice grammar, conversation and writing in Russian.

Class 1 The course schedule will be determined through discussions held among students and the instructor. Learning Russian alphabet and basic grammar.

Study advice (preparation and review)

To enhance effective learning, students are encouraged to spend approximately 100 minutes preparing for class and another 100 minutes reviewing class content afterwards (including assignments) for each class.
They should do so by referring to textbooks and other course material.

Textbook(s)

Takashi Kuwano. Syokyuu Rosiago 20ka. Hakusuisha, 2016(2012).
Students are required to obtain the textbook before and bring it on the first class.

Reference books, course materials, etc.

Course materials are provided during class.

Evaluation methods and criteria

Students will be assessed on the exam (50%) and their understanding and participation in classes(50%).
