Course overview and goals

In this lecture, various sentences written in German are read. Students who have learned basic German grammar aim to establish their knowledge and improve their practical reading comprehension skill. The understanding to the culture of the German-speaking world will deepen through the material.

Class flow


Students will read various texts and translate from German into Japanese, and practice in pronouncing and writing (The texts will be selected in consultation with the students, taking into consideration their areas of interest and German language skills.). Through the texts and visual materials, they can also touch the culture in Germany.

Summary Please translate the German sentence into Japanese and submit it. If you have a dictionary or grammar book, please bring it with you and use it.

Revise the German grammar using your grammar books and dictionary.

The text materials will be provided in the class.

Reference books, course materials, etc.

When you read the German-Japanese dictionary, please keep an eye on all example sentences.

Evaluation methods and criteria

Based on all submissions, the instructor will evaluate the accuracy of students' translations and reading comprehension. Students should translate German sentences into Japanese and submit them.
