授業の目的（ねらい）、概要

TOEFLについてすでに知識があるが、まだあまり自信がもてないという学生さん向けの授業です。TOEFLのReadingとWritingの各セクションの設問に取り組みながら試験形式・内容を再確認し、試験スコアを上げるために英語の四技能（特にこれら二つのセクションで求められている読解力・記述力・聴解力）の向上を目指します。英語圏の大学で教育を受けるのに必要な学習スキルを学生に理解させたうえで、そのスキルを応用する練習を行います。

到達目標

この授業科目は、次のような知識や能力を身につけることを目指す。
・readingおよびwriting セクションを中心にTOEFLテストで高得点を取るのに必要な技能および単語力を身につける。
・学問分野における英語の知識を広げる。
・英語の四技能をさらに向上させる。

授業の進め方

教科書の本文・練習問題を使用して、TOEFLのReading/Writingの各セクションの問題に具体的に取り組む。Integrated writingの練習の一環としてListeningの練習もおこない、理解を深めるためにグループワークも適宜取り入れる予定。
※履修希望者が多い場合、履修者数制限を行うことがあるので、履修希望者は必ず初回授業に出席すること。

第1回	Course Introduction Listening (1): Lesson 4 (Preparing for Integrated writing)	Understand how the class will be conducted. Understand how to answer the listening questions.
第2回	Reading (1): Lesson 3 (Main points/Details)	Understand the reading passage in Lesson 3 and answer the questions there correctly. Identify the main points and details in the text.
第3回	Writing (1): Lesson 11 (Agree/Disagree)	Understand how to answer the writing questions in Lesson 11. Understand how to explain agreement or disagreement.
第4回	Reading (2): Handouts (Summarizing 3)	Understand the reading passage provided in class and answer the questions there correctly. Understand how to write accurate summaries.
第5回	Writing (2): Lesson 12 (Giving Opinions)	Understand how to answer the writing questions in Lesson 12. Understand how to give opinions.
第6回	Reading (3): Handouts (Summarizing 4) Listening (2): Lesson 9 (Preparing for Integrated writing)	Understand the reading passage provided in class and answer the questions there correctly. Better understand how to write accurate summaries. Understand how to answer the listening questions.
第7回	Review and exam Writing (3): Lesson 7-(2) (Independent Writing) (Speaking tasks in the textbook will be used as writing tasks.)	Review of the overall contents of the course. Understand how to answer independent writing questions.

準備学修(事前学修・復習)等についての指示

学修効果を上げるため，教科書や配布資料等の該当箇所を参照し，「毎授業」授業内容に関する予習と復習（課題含む）をそれぞれ概ね100分を目安に行うこと。
