Syllabus

Course overview and goals

In this course, students will learn about financial statements as a basic knowledge necessary for business strategy analysis, accounting analysis, financial analysis, and future potential analysis of companies. Students will understand the structure, characteristics, and reading of financial statements, and will develop their analysis and evaluation of companies using data from financial statements, based on case studies and analysis.
The aim of this course is to understand the framework of analysis and evaluation of companies using data from financial statements and to acquire basic knowledge for business analysis of actual companies.

The goal of this course is as follows:
(1) Understand basics of financial statements
(2) Understand the framework of corporate analysis using data from financial statements
(3) Acquire basic knowledge to conduct corporate analysis using data of financial statements

Class flow

Learn basic knowledge of financial statements first, and then conduct group presentations and discussions on selected examples.

Study advice (preparation and review)

To enhance effective learning, students are encouraged to spend approximately 100 minutes preparing for class and another 100 minutes reviewing class content afterwards (including assignments) for each class.
