Course overview and goals

Based on the contents of the "Educational Media and Design A", students will learn the theory and principles in order to produce an effective e-Learning course.

By this course, students can acquire knowledge and skills for designing effective e-Learning course. Furthermore by comparative evaluation of current online learning courses like MOOCs, students can capture the e-learning from a global perspective.

Course description and aims

By the end of this course, students will be able to:
1) learn how to design an effective e-Learning course by developing the contents of the "Educational Media and Design A".
2) explain the features and differences about e-Learning content and courses for new capacity building represented by the 21st century skills.
3) critically evaluate the online learning courses that have been deployed globally.

Class 1 What is e-Leaning? Students explain the features of the e-Learning.
Class 2 Instructional Desing of e-Learning Students explain the keypoints of instructional design of e-learning.
Class 3 Analysis of Learning Contents Students analyze an e-learning contents.
Class 4 Gagne's Nine Learning Events and Teaching Strategy Students design an e-learning course with Gagne's nine learning events.
Class 5 ARCS model Students improve e-Learning courses based on the ARCS model.
Class 6 e-Learning Design Principles Students explain e-learning design principles.
Class 7 Topics toward Better Learning Students evaluate their own e-learning courses.

Study advice (preparation and review)

To enhance effective learning, students are encouraged to spend approximately 100 minutes preparing for class and another 100 minutes reviewing class content afterwards (including assignments) for each class.
They should do so by referring to textbooks and other course material.
