Course overview and goals
In order for GEDES doctoral students to acquire teaching methods necessary to become independent education and research specialists in the future, this course aims to gain practical skills necessary for engaging in education through the opportunity to support academic courses as a teaching assistant (TA). Students who are paid for the work as TA are not eligible for course registration.
Course description and aims
Through the opportunity to play an educational support role as a TA, students will practically understand and acquire the skills and important points necessary for engaging in higher-level education.

Class 1 | Students proceed the individual project according to the following steps: 1. The faculty member in charge of the course will explain the lecture plan, confirm the points to keep in mind as a TA to contribute to the subject, and make a plan. 2. The plan needs to be discussed and approved by the main faculty member of the subject. 3. Poster presentation at GEDES student workshop 4. Submission of the report | The presentation at the workshop and the report need to be made for the followings. ・Make a presentation about the skills and important points for engaging in education acquired through the opportunity of TA. ・Summarize the content of discussions with lecturers before and after each class (regarding the works in charge as TA) and report results (report of works executed as TA and feedback from academic advisors, etc.) |

Evaluation methods and criteria
Evaluation will be made based on the preparatory plan, the presentation at the workshop of student activities (2 minutes presentation, 4 minutes Q&A) and the activity report (2 pages or more).

Prerequisites
Approval of the supervisor and the faculty member in charge of the course. Students who are not paid for the work as TA are eligible for course registration.
Engage for a time equivalent to 100 minutes * 7 times in actual work.
Each one has to make a presentation in the earliest workshop (in February or August) after the activity is finished. We cannot give credits to those who register for the workshop which is held beyond one year since the end of the activity.
To make a presentation in the workshop held in August and February, students must take the course named with A or B, and the course named with C or D, respectively.
