Course overview and goals
The concept of systematic system design synthesizing fundamental knowledge of mechanical engineering is essential in order to realize mechano-systems. In design of mechano-systems, the grand design to satisfy requirements, design of the individual elements, driving system, sensor system, and control system, and their synthesis are required. In this course, one mechano-system is selected and the design process is practically studied.
As a mechanical design course, this course aims at building foundations of reasonable mechano-system design based on fundamental knowledge of mechanical engineering.
Course description and aims
At the end of this course, students will be able to:
1) Describe functions and structures of typical mechano-system elements including motion mechanisms, actuators, sensors, and motion control systems.
2) Design mechano-systems systematically.
3) Describe fundamental knowledge, processes and methods to realize mechano-systems.
4) Utilize various methodologies of mechanical engineering significant to realize mechano-systems.
Keywords
Design, Motion mechanisms, Actuators, Sensors, Mechatronics
