Course overview and goals
Based on Engineering Measurement 1 (TSE.A232) and as a preparation for TSE Experiment (TSE.A351), this course focuses on understanding the fundamental principles in the measurement of physical quantities which are important in engineering, and covers basic electric and electronic circuits and applied analytical instruments.
Course description and aims
Students will be able to understand the measurement principles of physical quantities and analytical instruments in this course, so that they can acquire the ability to understand the real meaning of measurement results. This course does not however include proficiency in the operation of measurement instruments.

Prof. Cross worked for 14 years in Japanese industry in the field of R&D semiconductor memories and has written over 30 patents. A guest lecture from industry specialist will also be held.

Study advice (preparation and review)
To enhance effective learning, students are encouraged to spend approximately 100 minutes preparing for class and another 100 minutes reviewing class content afterwards (including assignments) for each class.
They should do so by referring to textbooks and other course material.
