Course overview and goals

Through the design of a specific space, you will combine what you have learned so far and reflect it in a single space.

Course description and aims

・Take an interest in the spaces around you
・Imagine the relationship between people and space
・Use your specialist knowledge to conceive of spaces and make proposals as a specialist who takes on a public role

Class flow

The students will conduct research and make proposals through group work. They will receive feedback from an outside lecturer several times during the course of the project, and will refine their ideas.

Course schedule/Objectives

Class 1 Guidance Grouping, understanding how the class is progressing, fieldwork
Class 2 Research and analysis Each group will conduct research on materials and conduct field research to create a concept.
Class 3 Presentation of the Concept Announce the concept and receive feedback
Class 4 Planning Reflect feedback and create a plan. Start making a model.
Class 5 Bridge Engineering Lecture Understand bridges and establish bridge design concepts
Class 6 Esquisse 1 Using a site model, they present their planning proposal.
Class 7 Planning Reflecting comments on the presentation and refining the draft
Class 8 Planning Look at the draft plan from multiple perspectives and work out the details.
Class 9 Esquisse 2 Present design proposals and receive feedback
Class 10 Planning Reflecting feedback and refining the plan
Class 11 Planning Add surveys, etc. as necessary and brush up the plan.
Class 12 Esquisse 3 Present the plan and receive feedback
Class 13 Presentation preparation Create a presentation with the intention of presenting your plan to the public as an expert.
Class 14 Presentation Make a final presentation

Study advice (preparation and review)

To enhance effective learning, students are encouraged to spend approximately 50 minutes preparing for class and another 50 minutes reviewing class content afterwards (including assignments) for each class.
They should do so by referring to textbooks and other course material.
