Course overview and goals

This course is designed to give students experiences in the social world at companies and/or institutes whose researches are related to “Life Engineering; Human Centered Science and Biomedical Engineering”. It is necessary to discuss with student’s supervisor to decide the host agency for thier off campus training. The number of credit depends on student’s working period at the host agency.

Course description and aims

By completing this course, students acquire the following abilities:
1) Ability to understand the study in “Life Engineering” course based on the research at the host agency.
2) Balanced research skills to integrate the knowledge acquired at both student’s laboratory and the host agency.

Class flow

After the discussion with student’s academic advisor, students start their training at their host agency. After completing their training, students make an activity report during their training at the host agency.

Study advice (preparation and review)

To enhance effective learning, students are encouraged to spend a certain length of time outside of class on preparation and review (including for assignments), as specified by the Tokyo Institute of Technology Rules on Undergraduate Learning (東京工業大学学修規程) and the Tokyo Institute of Technology Rules on Graduate Learning (東京工業大学大学院学修規程), for each class.
They should do so by referring to textbooks and other course material.

Evaluation methods and criteria

Students are evaluated based on their activity at the host and their report. If misconduct, such as plagiarism or misappropriation of someone else's work is committed, we will treat it strictly: The grade of the subject will be 0.
