Course overview and goals

Cyber security and its measures important in nuclear power plant security, consequence of cyber incident and its response are taught by lectures, table top exercise, and hypothetical incident response exercise with plant simulator at Mitsubishi Heavy Industry on August 28th - 30th.

Course description and aims

Understanding the importance of cyber security in nulcear power plant, and also understanding the basis of practical ways of response to cyber insidenses.

Prof. Sagara, an expert and practical operator of nuclear non-proliferation and security at Tokyo Tech, Prof. Matsuura, an expert and practical work in center for cybersecurity research and education at Tokyo Tech, and Mr. Fukui, an expert in cyber security of noclear power plant at Mitsubishi Heavy Industry are the lecturers.

Class flow

It will be held as 3-day intensive exercise at Mitsubishi Heavy Industry, Kobe city in the latter half of August.

Class 1 Current situation of cyber insident and the needs of measures of cyber security Student can explain the current situation of cyber insident and the needs of measures of cyber security
Class 2 Inoformation system security of nuclear facility and its regulation Student can explain the inoformation system security of nuclear facility and its regulation
Class 3 Information system and control system Student can explain information system and control system
Class 4 Control system security Student can explain the control system security
Class 5 Cyber insident detection, response and recovery exercise Student can understand and explain Cyber insident detection, response and recovery through exercise.
Class 6 Hypothetical exercise with nuclear power plant simulator (1) Student can understand the cyber security response practically by the hypothetical exercise with nuclear power plant simulator (1)
Class 7 Hypothetical exercise with nuclear power plant simulator (2) Student can understand the cyber security response practically by the hypothetical exercise with nuclear power plant simulator (2)

Evaluation methods and criteria

The evalation is performed based on attitude during the exercise, performance of presentation, and report after the exercise.
