Course overview and goals
This course introduces trends and future prospects of research and development in the human centered science and biomedical engineering which is the interdisciplinary field based on mechanical engineering, eletrical and electronic engineering, information and communications engineering, materials science and engineering. This is a constitution of Outline of Human Centered Science and Biomedical Engineering I & II.
Course description and aims
At the end of this course, students will be able to
1) understand cutting-edge research and development in the interdisciplinary field of human centered science and biomedical engineering based on mechanical
engineering, electrical and electronic engineering, information and communications engineering, materials science and engineering.
2) set issues based on future prospects and find their solutions in the field.

Class 2 | Medical applications of atmospheric plasmas (Akitoshi Okino) | Students shall understand new atmospheric plasma sources and its applications for medical fields such as sterilization, blood coagulation and bioanalysis. |
Class 3 | Brain Machine Interface and it's applications (Yasuharu Koike) | Students will understand the computational neuroscience for Brain Machine Interface and its applications. |
Class 4 | Bio-based and Biodegradable Polymeric Materials (Takeharu Tsuge) | Students will understand fundamental properties of bio-based and biodegradable polymeric materials. |
Class 5 | Method and applications of non-contact measurement using ultrasound (Marie Tabaru) | Students will understand non-contact measurement methods and some topics. |
Class 6 | Medical robots and their development trends (Kotaro Tadano) | Students will understand the functions and roles of medical robots and grasp development trends. |

To enhance effective learning, students are encouraged to spend approximately 100 minutes preparing for class and another 100 minutes reviewing class content afterwards (including assignments) for each class.
