Syllabus

Course overview and goals

This course is for a long-term (at least 2 months), research internship with an allowance for doctoral degree students as part of graduate school education.
The internship is implemented based on the " Cooperative Education through Research Internships (Leading Trial) Implementation Policy (Guideline)" (tentative translation) established by the Higher Education Bureau of the Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology on May 21, 2021 (hereinafter referred to as "the guideline") and related documents. These guideline and related documents are subject to revision, so always refer to the latest ones if necessary.
For internships conducted based on the guideline, credits will be granted by taking this course.
When taking this course, be sure to refer to the " Cooperative Education through Research Internships " issued by the Student Division.

Course description and aims

Progress can be seen for each of the following items and their overall.
-Research: appropriate setting or understanding of research objectives, appropriate selection of research methods, appropriate information gathering / information analysis / information integration, and proposal of new research directions.
-Implementation: understanding the difference between universities and companies regarding research objectives and research methods, ensuring safety, compliance, appropriate understanding and practice of information management, appropriate understanding of funding and time constraints and practice of research considering those constraints.
--Interpersonal relationship / teamwork: appropriate communication with others, appropriate teamwork with superiors and colleagues.

Evaluation methods and criteria

The evaluation will be conducted by such as checking the progress during the internship period by students’ academic supervisor, a report session held by students’ graduate majors, and an evaluation report / evaluation certificate prepared by the company based on the guideline. Since this course is related to a medium- to long-term internship, it will be judged as pass / fail without scoring.

Prerequisites

Students who have been confirmed to have no problems with their study plans and research plans after prior consultation with their academic supervisor are eligible. Master’s degree students who are allowed to take 600-level courses cannot take this course.
