Syllabus

Course overview and goals

The principal subject is a research activity at universities or research agencies in a foreign country. Any established programs in which credits and/or a degree are offered are not the subject of this course. The content of the research activity must be appropriate as a part of the curriculum of Mechanical Engineering. Both planning and reporting are required as a part of this course. The duration of the research activity is normally one week in this course.

Course description and aims

The aims of this course are
(1) to extend or develop the research topic working under the supervisor, and/or
(2) to gain experience and to expand one’s view as a researcher by working on a research topic which is different from the research topic working under the supervisor.

Class flow

Planning should be documented before conducting the research activity. Reporting is required either by document or by presentation after finishing the research activity.

Evaluation methods and criteria

Score is evaluated based on planning and reporting. Planning is in the form of document. Reporting is in the form of document or presentation. The student who want to study abroad cannot get credits of this course if he or she can get credits for his or her research project at the destination research facility. In addition, the student can apply to only one overseas research project D at the same research facility.

Doctoral degree program students in mechanical engineering course. Students who have not earned enough credits might not be allowed to take this course.
