Course overview and goals

Through the interdisciplinary research project of approximately 180 hours (around three months), students with their skills and knowledge acquired at Tokyo Tech Academy for Leadership and the major courses will practice and test their abilities at a laboratory at Tokyo Tech that is different from their own discipline. Students should submit an application in advance and implement the project under the guidance of the professor of your host laboratory. In the application, students should define his/her career plan and organize their project so that he/she can acquire the abilities necessary to realize their career plan in the project.

Through this project, students understand state of own ability and what must learn further, which is reflected in course planning after the project.

Class flow

Student plans an interdisciplinary research project of approximately 180 hours (around three months) at a laboratory at Tokyo Tech that is different from their own discipline by considering own career plan and picture of a leader with academic supervisor and participates in the interdisciplinary research project.

To enhance effective learning, students are encouraged to spend a certain length of time outside of class on preparation and review (including for assignments), as specified by the Tokyo Institute of Technology Rules on Undergraduate Learning (東京工業大学学修規程) and the Tokyo Institute of Technology Rules on Graduate Learning (東京工業大学大学院学修規程), for each class.
They should do so by referring to textbooks and other course material.
