Course overview and goals

[Summary of the lecture] Made-in-Japan products are renowned world-wide for their high quality, energy saving features and eco-friendly production processes, which are based on various advanced technologies. This course consists of lectures and site visits to factories and research institutes in and around Tokyo, and the applications of the advanced technology in manufacturing production and energy production.
[Aim of the lecture] This course aims to provide a survey of advanced technologies used at Japanese companies in various fields through on-site visits and discussion with engineers and researchers on-site.

Course description and aims

By the end of this course, exchange students will be able to:
(1) Explain cutting edge technologies in Japan and be able to reflect on similar technologies in their home countries.
(2) Explain applications of cutting edge technologies to industries.
