Syllabus

Course overview and goals

Students will go on a field excursion of two or three days in the beginning of September to observe and learn volcanoes, active faults, and geological structures.
The objectives of this course are to experience and understand field experiments and observations and geological surveys that are useful in Earth and Planetary Sciences.

Course description and aims

Students will visit large research facilities and museums concerning astronomy and geology, and learn widely the Earth and Space Sciences.

This course involves a field excursion for three days in September.

Course schedule/Objectives

Course schedule Objectives
Class 1 Guidance on the content of the tours and how to apply for participation will be given in a face-to-face format. The two sessions are scheduled for 12:25-13:00 on 12 Apr (Wed) and 12:25-13:00 on 14 Apr (Fri); those wishing to attend the first guidance session must register by Monday 10 Apr and those wishing to attend the second session must register by Wednesday 12 Apr. A Zoom URL will be sent out via T2SCHOLA in the event that face-to-face guidance becomes difficult. The location for face-to-face guidance is the Lecture Theatre. Please note that this guidance will be held jointly by the Basic Lab (Geomaterials) and the Basic Lab (Geophysics). Understand details of field excursion

Observations are very important for Earth and Planetary Sciences.
This course will give you an opportunity to see volcanoes, active faults, and geological units, and to visit famous and large facilities on astronomy and seismology.
In case of cancellation after July, fees except for bus and reservation fees will be refunded.
